Looking Ahead: How the Canada Post Strike May Impact Black Friday
Posted by Leigh Cavanaugh on
As we approach one week into the strike, we want to discuss what it would mean in the event that this carries over into Black Friday.
Any packages that are currently held with Canada Post are secured within their mailing system and will continue to move once the strike has ended. We have been informed by Canada Post that these packages are unfortunately not able to be retrieved from their system while on hold, but they will remain secure. If anyone requires assistance with a package after service has resumed, please reach out to our Customer Care Team.
Shipping Options
Currently we have DHL available as an alternate shipping method for many destinations; DHL remains unaffected by the strike. For a full list, please see our Shipping Information page. We are also working to implement more alternatives, specifically for destinations within Canada where DHL Express is not available. However, we anticipate for these to be similar courier services like DHL, with similar pricing.
We understand that not everyone is able to afford the additional price of a courier service; Canada Post remains the cheapest shipping method and will be an option at checkout for this reason. We're happy to hold any orders where shipping with Canada Post is selected (Tracked & Expedited Packets, International Air and XpressPost services). However, if you choose it, please know that packages will not be able to be picked up from our workshop until the strike ends and Canada Post services resume. And when they do, Canada Post will likely be facing backlogs, which will lead to longer transit times as a result. Please take this into consideration when making your purchasing decisions.
At this time, we do not know how long the strike will last. Because of this we cannot guarantee that packages will arrive in time for Christmas.
In any instance, we highly recommend adding Route Shipping Insurance for parcel protection. Route is a low-cost package insurance that will protect your order from loss, theft or damage. If Route is not added and an issue arises in transit, the only resolution option will be to open a claim directly with the carrier. If you opt out of Route, our team will do their best to assist in all circumstances, but please know that Clionadh is not responsible for lost or damaged parcels, nor obligated to refund the value of the parcel. For full details, please see our Terms of Service.
Order Add-Ons
If you have a pending order with us that has not left our workshop and would like to add to it during Black Friday, we will accommodate anyone who wishes to do so for the duration of the sale. In order to do this, please follow these steps:
- Place order on the website as per usual.
- Email our Customer Care Team with both your original and new order number asking to combine.
- Our team will take the combined weight of both orders and refund extra shipping charges.
- Everything will be sent within one box under one tracking number.
Pick-Ups
We will also temporarily open up local pick-ups for anyone located within the Toronto area who would like to avoid shipping all together. This is currently available and will be available until Thursday, December 19th. With this method, you will be contacted via email when your order is processed and ready to be collected. Pick-ups are available between Mondays-Thursdays during the hours of 12PM - 4PM, within one hour time blocks.
We appreciate your understanding during this time as our team does their best to navigate this tricky situation. We will continue to stay on top of everything and update you as we know more.
Have a great weekend!
