Processing Delay at Mississauga Depot
Posted by Leigh Cavanaugh on
As COVID-19 continues to impact postal services around the world, couriers are doing their best to adjust in order to minimize the effects on their customers, all the while maintaining crucial safety protocols. Despite these endeavours, there may be delays as a result of these impacts from time to time.
Since the end of January, one of the main sorting facilities for Canada Post in Mississauga has been understaffed due to positive COVID-19 cases and the subsequent removal of shifts and mandatory quarantine for workers. Where possible, packages have been routed to other depots to prevent a backlog, but ultimately this incident has disrupted the mail flow and caused delays.
For anyone experiencing a scanning delay with your parcel leaving this facility, this is the cause.
But there is good news as of this week! After working with Peel Public Health (PPH) to conduct large-scale testing, Canada Post employees were able to safely return to work this past weekend and have made significant progress in catching up. Many parcels have been processed and shipped out of the facility at this stage.
If you have not seen movement in your tracking number yet, please allow a couple more days for progress. If you continue to experience issues, please contact our Customer Care team for assistance.
